private school scholarship funds -elementary school

in response to Anti-publicschool...   HEY!  I went to public school, got great grades and went to a great college -  it's all what you make of it. I care INTENSELY for my children but can't afford tuition, so I did exhasutive research and finally found a charter school.  It took me many years to get in through their lottery!  I agree, public schools are asked to do the impossible.  There are charter schools, which can be a great alternative and "free" of charge.  If you want a scholarship you have to ask (or beg) the school for one.  Also, you may be able to apply for scholarship grants through groups like Elks, Shriners, or even through your employer.

in response to Starshine...   You can keep SUnny form getting bored very easily - simple things like paper bags, toilet paper tuobes and carboard boxes keep our kitten busy for hours!  His favorite toy right now - and it has been for months - is an old twisted up plastic slinky!!  We throw it and he chases it, attacks it, beats  it up, then brings it back to us so we can throw it again!

Have you looked into donating plasma for pay?  You can both do audience work, where you sit in a studio as the audience of a gameshow or talk show and get paid- usually you get paid at the end of the day.  Walk around and pick up bottles and cans and cash them in at recycling centers - people are so messy that you'll be doing th ecommunity a service and making money, too!  Contact local churches and see if they can help you, or if they need any day help - maybe you could weed their yard or paint a porch for some money.  I am also in Southern California and it is tough, but once you learn the ropes you'll make it!  Rosie

Have you checked into refinancing your mortgage to take some of the pressure off?  Jobs are scarce but they are out there, your hubby may have to do something other than his chosen field or he may have to work second-shift hours but if he keeps applying something will come through eventually.  Does he have the skills to register with a temp agency?  Maybe you could start ahome-based business together?  Just some ideas.  Best wishes, Rosie

Hey, Hectorr - sorry to hear about your situation.  When you do bring your little boy out in the Florida heat, please be sure to bring an umbrella, a fan (even a paper one!) and water or gatorade for him - and for you!!  Do your shopping early in the day, or late in the evening.  Maybe you can find a used bicycle for transportation for yourself?  Again, be heat smart.

I found these job postings in the Lakeland Craig's List for cabinet makers - I don't know the areas as well but maybe something here will work out for you:

Experienced cabinet maker/furniture builder (Sarasota (north))

We will be hiring an experienced builder that has own tools and transportation.
Please respond if you are someone that is a proficient builder that can do all phases of construction (not finish, probably no install) without supervision.
Experience working with wood veneering will be most helpful.

Please do not respond if you have only assembly line woodwork experience, if you have not been actively building in this country, in the last couple years, if you don't speak english, if you have attendance problems, drug problems, or problems getting along with bosses and other crew members. And you must be immediately available ...please consider these carefully since the purpose is only to save us both wasted time.

When you email me, please let me know:
your years in the trade and the type of work y ou have done, and the approximate distance you would commute to 301/University area.
You can attach photos or resume and whatever else you would like us to know.
Also include you name and number and best time to call.

Please respond before 5/9 if possible...we will probably make a decision immediately.
We will call to make appointments for interviews soon and will call if we will schedule you.
